In a tale of horror, a teenager said to be on her way to church has been gang raped, murdered and skinned.

17-year-old Christine Silawan was found dead with no undergarments and her face skinned to the bone in a vacant lot earlier on Monday in Barangay (Village) Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, Philippines.

The grade 9 student is said to be a resident of Sirio Soong I in Barangay (Village) Mactan, Lapu-Lapu, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.

Police Colonel Lemuel Obon, Lapu-Lapu City police director, said the girl was last seen in the company of three men, and it was possible they had a hand in the crime.

She said they waited for her to come back till 7pm last night and they started getting worried, not knowing that her daughter was already dead.

Obon strongly believed that the girl had been raped, but they will have the body examined by the medico-legal officer to get official findings.
