A man had been hit by a moving train and died on the spot just days after his ex girlfriend hanged herself.
Adam Howarth, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene of the tragedy at Wigan North Western train station just before midday last Friday.
His family had reported him missing earlier and had gone to the police before the corpse of the man was discovered the next day near the tracks.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “BTP officers were called to Wigan North Western station at 11.48am on Friday, June 28, after a report of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended and sadly a person has since been pronounced dead.
“Enquiries into how the person came to be at the location are ongoing.”
His ex, who was a mum of one and mental health nursing assistant, died on June 22.
She had posted a last selfie with two lipstick emojis on Facebook just hours before she died.
Tributes have been pouring in on social media for Chloe and Adam who had dated before splitting up but remained close friends.
