A woman that was born with an incredibly rare condition has opened up about it.
Elizabeth Amoah, a UK-based Ghanaian woman, was born with a rare condition that made her to have 2 vaginas and 2 wombs.
The woman who has lived with the condition for years revealed that she has already undergone 7 surgeries to try and correct it.
Speaking on 3FM’s Drive with Giovani Caleb, she decided it is time to let the world know what she has been fighting with.
She told Giovani Caleb,
“I discovered I had a double womb and a double vagina canal in 2015 after an MRI scan, so I had to undergo about 7 surgeries.”
But that was not all the MRI scan showed her. She was also discovered to have Endometriosis: a sexual disorder in which tissues linings of the uterus grows outside the uterus.
She said that being born with 2 vaginas means that one is inside and the other is outside.
She revealed that she had not symptoms regarding the double womb, though the condition can cause irregular periods, fibroids, irregular fainting and in some instances cause infertility.
“I had a premature baby after four years of not conceiving, and going through such health situations wasn’t easy,” she said.
